Lagavulin Distillery and Castle

This is the stunning Lagavulin Distillery with the ruins of Lagavulin Castle in the foreground.

Lagavulin Castle dates from the 12th century and was a naval stronghold for MacDonald, Lord of the Isles. It was then captured in the early 17th century by Campbells and deliberatley destroyed in 1677.

If you find yourself in the westend of Glasgow, there is a great pub called The Islay Inn where you can try all of the whisky's from Islay yourself without having to travel out to the Inner Hebrides. Just tell Frank I sent you, and he will keep you right. Slàinte!

The Islay Inn is at 1256-1260 Argyle Street, Glasgow G3 8TJ
