I spent some time in East London in October, photographing Brick Lane on the edge of Bethnal Green and Tower Hamlets. A very interesting area thats now home to a massive Bangladeshi community.

Brick Lane itself felt completely safe. Lots of cool vintatge shops, coffee shops and the famous Beigel Bake, the 24 hour bakery that specialises in Salt Cod Bagels. It's a cool area to visit and wonder around for a few hours with lots of nice and friendly people.

I was interested to see some of the Graffiti on the area and decided to walk away from Brick Lane and head down Cheshire Street and over the railway bridges toward Pedley Street and Allen Gardens. This I would not recommend. The vibe on leaving Brick Lane itself immediately changed and once I'd crossed the railway bridges toward Allen Gardens it was completely different and did not feel safe to walk around, especially carrying a Nikon D850!

Over the railway was a lot of homeless tents, and people lying on old mattresses in alleyways with absolutely no tourists around at all. A very very edgy part of town indeed. Anyway here a set of images I shot around Brick Lane and the surrounding edgier streets.
