I fell in love with India the very first time I went there. The sights, the colours, the smells and the chaos are all intoxicating and absolute heaven for a photographer. Walk around during "magic hour" at dawn or dusk and there are literally photographs on every corner. None more so than in exotic Kerala. A huge state in the far south west of India on the tropical Malabar coast. From palm lined beaches to the inland backwaters known as the Western Ghats it really is one of the most photogenic places that I've ever been. In this post I have gathered together some of my images from the region, and quite of few of these have not been published before. I hope you like them and that they give you a flavour of what it's like to travel to Kerala.

Not only is Kerala loved for it's coastline along the Arabian Sea, it is also home to amazing tea plantations high up in the mountains where the air is fresh and cool allowing tea, coffee and spices to be grown. I spent a lot of time up around Munnar Hill Station and it is a stunningly beautiful area.

Kerala is of course home to amazing wildlife. From Elephants to Tigers, it's an absolutely fascinating area to visit.

The most interesting thing for me about Kerala though was the people living and working there. I love to photograph people and Kerala was incredible for that with so many interesting characters working and going about their day. Everyone seemed so happy and to me the region felt very safe and welcoming. From fishermen at sunset working on their boats or nets in Kochi to tuktuk drivers to chefs making the most amazing coconut curries or biriyanies, it's a truly wonderful place.
