We are almost at my Number One Photography Destination in the World, but before I reveal where that is, I must tell you about my second favourite place, which is back to India for the final time, and this time it's to Jodhpur in Rajasthan. A stunningly beautiful and photogenic city in northwest India and the last major city in India before you get to Pakistan. It's surrounded by huge fortress walls with striking blue buildings which contrast starkly with the Thar desert which adjoins the city.

The city is dominated by the Mehranghar Fort sits on a 400 feet hilltop and dates back to 1459 making it almost 600 years old and its a truly majestic site. The cities buildings spread out below the fort are predominantly painted blue and it creates and unforgettable sight. The blue colour is unique to Jodhpur and originally signified the homes of the higher caste Brahmin Priests. However it became popular throughout the city and eventually spread to many properties in Jodhpur.
Personally, I could spend days wandering the blue streets at sunset photographing the people in this city. I was inspired to visit by seeing the images taken by the great American photographer Steve McCurry who spent a long time living in Jodhpur, and I can totally see why. Some of my images are from Jodhpur are among my personal favourites from my portfolio and I have listed some of them here in this post, alongside some I haven't published before. I hope you enjoy them.......
